!!!Honest review!!!This album on vinyl doesn't sound too great; that being said, it's not bad either. I would say that it uses same source material as the CD. A lot of the time it sounds clean enough but some songs on side B and C sounds pretty bad (distortion). I truly believe this is only for collection purpose, you will not find any audiophile here... But that being said, if you're a fan of this album, I can recommend.
my copy of the blood album sounds bad! prefer to listen to the download version
I know sound quality is subjective but I wish you could get another copy to A and B test with. My copy sounds incredible. Has about 3 rotations of pops on side A but that's it. The mastering is great and I thin it sounds light years better than the CD release. I have all their albums on vinyl from this one forward and I'd say right up until the Blood Album the vinyl pressings are definitely the highest quality releases you can get out of any available format.
I am looking for record 1 (and inner sleeve) only. Please get in touch if you have one for sale. Consequently, I have an extra record 2 with inner sleeve for sale/trade.

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but I doubt they will ever repress this (at least not any time soon). AFI are one of those bands who likes to keep rarities out there and were pretty upset when some of their older albums were repressed. They do hold each album cycles as treasures, but end of every album cycle, they prefer to move on and promote their latest material. It's a shame that I will never have this in my hands, yet I still respect their views.
Never say never. I recently found someone selling a DecemberUnderground on FB marketplace and offhandedly mentioned he also had STS. I asked him for a price and if he'd be willing to sell. He checked on here and cut the price in half. 4 days later I had it spinning on my table.
If you have a chance to get this, do it. Sounds excellent
With 10k pressed why are they so damn expensive? Seems ridiculous.
People mainly bought CDs back then. The ones that bought the vinyl played them. Hard to find in mint condition. Vinyl wasn't a thing yet.
It's AFI - they probably got played hard and abused over the last 15 years.
does anyone think they will make make more vinyl copies? one of my favourite albums but on vinyl it's so expensive!
They'll reprint it at some stage. I'd love to see a box set of Sing The Sorrow onwards :)
Hoping they eventually press more of these as well, this was the last AFI album I really liked honestly!
They probably will eventually. This is the 15th year anniversary. Bands typically reissue stuff for even years, but that's just what I've become accustomed to. All the major labels these days are cashing in on album reissues from the 90's and it will all catch up soon. Bands who made albums in the 2000's are doing the same thing as well. AFI happened to make their most popular album in the early 2000's so you can assume they will do the same thing. Just keep your eyes and ears peeled because lots of these reissues tend to be in limited quantities if they are going for special color variants and such. At the end of that they also usually press simple black vinyl which makes things easier. I'm patiently waiting for this one also!!!
Just got one of these. The sound quality is pretty superb. An average amount of surface noise, to be expected since this one was definitely played and handled. I haven’t listened to the CD intently since like 2005, so I can’t say how they compare. But the vinyl alone sounds amazing - great separation, I found myself able to pick out the bass even behind the wall of guitar. Mine has a tiny bubble on both sides of disc 1 - on the A side it’s during the first chorus of Silver & Cold, and the B side it’s during the first verse of Great Disappointment. Seems like manufacturing flaw. However, the minor pop it caused is only three or four rotations and it’s gone. Also worth noting, whether intentional or not - when spinning at 33 1/2, the lines/grooves in the disc create a kind of ‘wagon wheel’ effect, except instead of going backwards or standing still, it kinda wobbles left and right. No, the discs are not warped. It’s pretty hypnotizing.
anyone know how many of these were pressed?
Hi mate, 10,000 were pressed only on red vinyl :)
It is for the time period. Vinyl was still dead. Just starting to regain some traction. Any acts that did release were low number novelty in 1000 or less. Even big budget acts might have been pressing 10000, but more than likely less. And that would be the likes of a Paul McCartney or Waters, Gilmour etc.Bare in mind this is early 2000s. Anything from 1989-2005 is a blessing.Although I am still skeptical about 10000. I would say more likely to be 3000. 5000, max.
I would agree the 10K seems a bit rediculous, i cant believe that with the going prices and the limited availability. I would be interested to find out where else it says that
I have 2 copies but not letting them go. It's not about the money.
Yeah, I'm calling bullshit on 10,000. Unless 7k were lost in a fire there should be more floating around at a better price.
10000 . ten word limit . 10000 was pressed. yup
10,000?! That's crazy. And only one person is selling theirs for $150? Where are they?
10,000 were pressed. Not really "limited"
