Album

Anthem is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter Christian Scott released on August 28, 2007 via Concord Records. Anthem is a Scott's emotional response to the continued suffering in 2007 of his fellow New Orleanians two years after Hurricane Katrina. Steve Greenlee of JazzTimes stated There's a reason the term sophomore slump exists, and trumpeter Christian Scott has hit it. There were high expectations surrounding him, though his first disc, Rewind That, was an auspicious modern-jazz debut. Songs in album Christian Scott - Anthem 2007. Christian Scott Quintet live at Newport 2008, playing a piece from the 2007 album with the same title, 'Anthem'. He is an trumpeter that i really like and. Album 2007 14 Songs. Anthem is New Orleans-native and trumpet player Christian Scotts musical response to Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath so its no surprise that the album is imbued with a somewhat dark, melancholy tone. The disc has several nice horn parts featuring a variety of brass and reed combinations: cornet and tenor sax, flugelhorn and straight alto sax, soprano trombone and tenor sax. Listen free to Christian Scott Anthem Litany Against Fear, Void and more. 12 tracks 65:16. An emerging talent on the international jazz scene, New Orleans-born trumpeter Christian Scott's debut album Rewind That was released on Concord in 2005 and received great critical acclaim. 9 of the 11 tracks on Rewind That are Scott's original work also on the record is Scott's take on the legendary So What and Donald Harrison's Paradise Found. Scott's music builds its tonal foundation off of Matt Stevens' guitar riffs, which could easily find their place in a contemporary rock setting. Anthem is, at least in part, a true emotional response to the continued suffering in 2007 of Christian Scott's fellow New Orleanians two years after Hurricane Katrina. It's a completely different record than its predecessor but even more forward looking, inclusive, and full of chancy moves. It begins somberly with the title track, which introduces something of a suite that includes the various themes of the entire album. Anthem Post Diluvial Adaptation - Christian Scott. The beguiling mix of despondency and hope that ooze from opening track Litany Against Fear think ringing electric guitars, sprawling post-rock rhythms and pounding piano creating an apocalyptic soundscape over which Scott writes plaintive messages in the air - act as a signpost for the rest of the album. Anthem, 2007. Christian Scott. Litany Against Fear, 05:51. The Uprising, 05:42. Katrina's Eyes, 06:37. Anthem Post Diluvial Adaptation , 04:56. This is my favorite Christian Scott album I've heard so far. The heavy electric guitar and electric bass set this apart from straight-ahead jazz, but it's less rock-influenced than 70's era fusion jazz. It certainly isn't smooth jazz - this album wants to be played loud. The elegiac nature of this album from trumpeter Christian Scott is very apparent throughout recorded in 2007, it is a reference and response to the ravages of Hurricane Katrina
