Romance Voici que le printemps, ce fil léger d'avril, song for voice & piano, L. Claude Debussy. Claire Croiza. Chansons de La Petit Sirène d'Anderson 3, songs for voice & string quartet or piano, H63. Arthur Honegger. Claire Croiza 14 September 1882 27 May 1946 was a French mezzo-soprano and an influential teacher of singers. Claire Croiza née Conelly, or O'Connolly was born in Paris, the daughter of an expatriate American father and an Italian mother, and as a child she excelled at piano and singing. She was taught singing privately at first and then went to the Polish tenor Jean de Reszke for further study. She made her opera début in Nancy in 1905 in Messaline by Isidore de Lara. In 1906 she made her first. Grey was born Madeleine Nathalie Grumberg on 11 June 1897 at Vilaines-la-Juhel in Mayenne. She died in Paris on 13 March 1979. Grey's vintage versions of the Canteloube songs were my introduction to them. A handful were included by some adventurous and well-informed producer in one of BBC Radio 3's morning programmes back in 1971. Grey sounds more mature than my now favourite version Netania Davrath on Vanguard - presumably temporarily unavailable given the demise of the Omega Group. She delivers the unruly kick of a lickerish pony in L'Aio de rotso and does so with seamless b. Songs of Madeleine Dring - Stanford Olsen, Wanda Brister, Timothy Hoekman. MADELEINE GREY: At the National Conservatory in Paris she first studied piano with Alfred Cortot and then. The first recording, of eleven of the songs, was by Madeleine Grey in 1930, with an ensemble conducted by Élie Cohen. The booklet says that Madeleine Grey recorded the Chants d'Auvergne and 6 more Ravel sides. BUT the Cascavelle CD has 8 more Madeleine Grey recordings of folk songs, mentioned nowhere. French composer Pierre de Bréville accompanies a second singer here, the soprano Claire Croiza, in one of his songs. This is elegant, beautifully enunciated singing from a singer better remembered today as a teacher of many famous pupils than for the few recordings she made. Singing actress Yvonne Printemps is also represented. Listen to music from Claire Croiza like Une Jeune Fille Parle, Une Jeune Fille Parle Remasterisé En 2009 & more.
