Spectre is a song by the English rock band Radiohead, produced by Nigel Godrich. Radiohead wrote the song, an orchestral ballad, for the 2015 James Bond film Spectre, but it was rejected by the film producers. Instead, Radiohead released it as a free download on 25 December 2015, their first release since 2011. It received. Feel free to sell me a copy for a reasonable price! I'm a reasonable man, get off my case, get off my case........
the classic case of supply and demand with this one, 2500 just isn't very much for a band of RH's stature.
(EDIT 27/06/18 - They are sold out) Just though i'd let people know that I noticed my local record store has a copy listed for sale on their website (www.realgroovy.co.nz) for like $14USD and they ship international if anyone is interested
Looking for just the paper sleeve, if any one has an extra or doesn't want their sleeve
"Limited to 2500 copies" :) ho ho ho ho ho
Ive ordered 2 of these... both were warped. Sellers did not bother to check anything... be careful!!!!
well, this is a great 7"...and this morning the LP came in as well, so, I am happy...I'll take a beer and enjoy some good music
I think it's seriously hilarious how much people expect to get for this 7". I keep it in my Want list just to get daily emails that make me lol.
Lovers of money, haters of music: keep your 7 inches!
Got one with a double stamped label done. Wax laid over the second label on the Spectre side. Anyone else run into this? Or does anyone want a crazy misprinting?
found one last friday at revolver records in barcelona. they said it was the last of five in total they got.
Not joking here, I was able to get a copy from our local store Guestroom Records here in Oklahoma City. They only had six come in and they split it between both store locations. It was first come first serve and there was a secret password you had to say when you came in order to get a copy. The password was "Hail to the Thief!" I was actually the first one to hit the northside location and get my copy after I've been drooling over it since it was first announced. I also gave blood that day, sooooo I was sorta outa it that morning lol.
would have mine listed on here for $8.05 but radiohead told indie shops we weren't allowed to sell them online... can't believe people have them listed at 50 something and shops selling for over 7.50... there are three collecting dust at our shop inside stone tavern in kent, ohio for $7 if anyone wants one.
these are all gone now. thanks for coming in to get them.
also please don't ask me to sell or ship one to you online... you have to have someone walk into the shop and buy it for you and ship it to you.
Burn the Witch isn't that great IMO but it's all about the B side which is and doesn't feature on the album still it's not worth the £40 being quoted here.
It is rather fantastic, I could spin it all day!
wasn't crazy about burn the witch at first, but it's growing on me. alot. ps - it's a cool song.
The price will go down when these starfish nugs realize that nobody wants to pay $40 for a 7 inch that just came out.Look at that Jack White/Mupets Stevie Wonder cover 7inch. It sold for $70 a month ago but now you can get it for in the $20 range.Hucksters, I can't say I wouldn't overcharge for desirable goods but you will see that we true music bitches are patient little sluts.
Waiting just over 1 week has seen the price drop from £150 to the current price of £37.50. I think itll drop a bit more over time.
Could be a decent comparison if there were less limited variant of this like there is with that Jack 7". Also if side B featured the Muppets and not a lost Bond theme that's never seen a physical release. Happy waiting.
I was able to get this for $9.99 at Down in the Valley record shop in Golden Valley, MN. There were two copies left on Friday night (5/20) - it makes me sad to see people greedily inflating prices when copies are still available in shops.
I feel pretty lucky, our local shop got 5 and held a contest/drawing for them and I was able to score it that way.
Ugh. $20 max to give yourself a little finder's fee. After that, you're just trashy.
I bought mine at a local record shop for just under $12 on release day. Returned the next morning to get another for a friend who wasn't able to find a copy and they told me they were only selling the other two online for WAY more than the MSRP.
That's a grimey thing to do as a record shop!
That's a damn shame. I'd be finding a new shop to patronize. But at least they're honest.
This insane circus going on right now with this single is THE perfect example of a vinyl market that went apeshit. I buy CDs. :)
Same. But I did find the 7" so I got it (for myself) because the music is great.
Is anybody willing to buy a copy at a shop and sell it to me at about normal price? Single is not available in Holland. ---- Yes its available now in shop. Picked one up :-)
Pretty sure they're sold out in shops by now, man.
Got mine in a local recordstore, €12,99. No hassle at all.
Where ? In France its not found :( Thanks you
Anyone else finding the cover to be an awfully tight fit for the record+sleeve? Received mine with the record removed but I can't get the bugger back in there.
Always best to wait for the initial flip craze to die down. I got my copy this morning in-store for $12, they only received two copies, I live in a small town. Sounds good, nice to have, but no way in hell would I pay flip prices for essentially 1 song. Insanity. I think you can download Spectre now, and it's sure to be one of the bonus 2 tracks on the CD that comes with the special edition vinyl.
Those who got the single in the UK/EU, can you confirm whether the details on the record are the same as above?
I confirm... same reference /barcode.. Was delivered yesterday.. 5 in Indie Store in Brussels
They have come down significantly. I have a notification from Discogs of several at $59.99 this morning they have sold since but they have been coming up frequently even $80 is significantly better than the original £120-£150 selling point on Friday.
2500 US copies of a two-song 7" single were produced. One track is on the upcoming LP, the other was given away for free online months ago. 18 copies are on Discogs today with a minimum price of nearly $100. Zero copies have been sold. I would not want to be on the supply side of this sales model.
"Zero copies have been sold."Got any sources on that? Seeing as I've bought one, and I've seen others, it looks like you made that up.
there were 24 copies last time I checked with some closer to $50-$60 that have since sold. people are buying these. they don't show up on the statistics right away.
2,500 is not really a hefty number unless you're a band like Menswear. I don't think the prices will come down much. Will be happy to hear from you again when they do.
ah! missed that. I agree that 2500 isn't all that limited, although everyone and their mom likes this band for some reason so I could see it still being in high demand.
they are, they are sold.. thats why they arent on here any more. there will be more, there is always more 2500 is a big number for a 7" (essentially just buying spectre) and there is already rumours of a repress.
they don't seem to be selling on here for 30-50...
ha, they already have come down.. when this was all posted they were at $150-200.. 24hrs later they are selling at 30-50..lol
naomi campbell damaged frey bentos pie returns coming to a supermarket near you.
Damn, I had no idea that this is in such high demand. I went into my local record store (Red Cat, Vancouver, one of the most popular in the city I assume) and they had like 20 copies for $13.99 each all sitting there in peace. Strange i guess.
and they're all gone!...... .. . . .. . .
I think there is only one version and it is limited. The lacquers for the US pressing were cut by Barry Grint at Alchemy in London, it seems highly unlikely that it is different in any way from the copies sold in the UK. But I do have a 2nd copy ordered from the UK so if there are any differences then I will add the 2nd version to discogs. The overall quantities for the UK and internationally just have not been revealed. XL had announced it as 2,500 copies for the US, and Modern Vinyl claimed that indie stores would be receiving 2,150 of those. So, that either means 2,500 for the US and probably at least a couple thousand more for UK & Europe, or else that means 2,150 for US and 350 for UK & Europe. I'm pretty sure the UK got more than those 350 copies though.
its not the limited version. But who cares about that rubbish? All versions play the same music. Which is all that really matters. And, that is the way around flippers. Fans got some limited versions. Flippers bought up the rest and hopefully cant sell due to the market being flooded with an unlimited international run.
Called my local store in Denver this morning just before the doors opened, and they got about 15. I was there 20 minutes later and there were six or seven left. Once all the US ones are distributed, I imagine the price will drop substantially in the next month of so. Can't wait to drop the needle tonight though.
Down from £150 to £59.99 in less than 24 hours.
I think you all should be complaining to XL Recordings. They *obviously* have a new marketing strategy for creating buzz for Radiohead, and this is part of it. Don't blame flippers, XL could press up and distribute another 5000 in like 4 weeks or less - will they though? And the strategy of not paying the flippers, won't work. Someone richer than you will always consider a higher price as 'reasonable', and buy the record. So you can wait for the flipper prices to come down, and risk someone with more money than you swooping on it before it comes down to what *you* consider reasonable, or, you could petition XL Recordings to press more. You noticed the 9500 copies of the opaque white Moon Shaped Pool too? Radiohead have never released intentionally limited records in this way before. I'm sure if they were fully aware of the counter productive feelings it engenders towards the format (ticket scalpers anyone?) and towards record stores, they would do something about it. Surely (?). Even the box editions for KoL and In Rainbows were produced in such massive numbers that 10 years on they're still about the same price in the secondary market. XL Recordings have created this feeding frenzy, at the fans' expense, to help create a buzz that will sell more records. It's such a 'coked up 90's' attitude for a record company to have. You all need to focus your anger at XL. Maybe they'll listen?
Through experience if your after one I'd just hold off a couple of weeks maybe months and I'd expect the price to settle at around the more reasonable £40 - £60 mark. Their already down from £150.00 to about £70.00 within 2 days.2500 is quite a high number in reality too. I don't see the point in these limited runs when they don't even number them.I was all for RSD/Indy Releases at one stage but now I think some of this crap does need to stop, I like the fact they get exclusive releases whether it be a coloured vinyl version or single or whatever but such small quantity releases like this are counter productive.
I went to my 'local' record shop (20 miles away) and they didn't receive a single copy, they've been in the same spot for 20+ years, so i phoned up a record shop 40 miles away, and they received 0, finally called another shop in another nearby city and they were receiving 3 copies, of which they'd already been called for. Ridiculous.
Where do you live? This was a UK release for indy shops. So I assume most of them stayed in the UK.
Find out when your favorite band is releasing a single + ring local record shop + go to said shop = own said record .
I take it you dident get one ?sorry for your loss.I hope you manage to get one for a decent price , all the best .Phill.
And look how well that plan worked out for everyone. Genius mate.
That's life. Stop complaining and get more involved. Stop sitting online pre ordering shit. Radiohead did a rad thing for collectors. You people complaining just aren't collectors. If you were you'd have it.
Right, I'm not a collector. I'm just a fan of a band and happen to want to own a single. Why do I need to jump through hoops to get it?
Ironically, I was able to preorder a copy online from a store in the UK just fine. But the only local shop that was going to get it, who I had been in touch with since the very first day this single had been mentioned. Well, they kept saying to check back the day before street date and confirm they got it in stock, but actually they put them on the shelf as soon as their copies arrived. Couldn't have been "more involved" without literally constantly pestering the shop owner, or if I had driven 45 minutes to wait around in the shop all day, 3 days before it was supposed to be sold.
no we have job unlike these stinky nerds who had nothing better to do than stand around in record stores waiting for them to go onto the shelves.
STFU man, I live in New England (The only area of distribution FYI) and still couldn't get this.FUCKING. RETARDED.
or...we just aren't RICH collectors. paying $75 a song isnt worth it to my wallet.
Retail price is around $10.00 in stores for the 7"
I paid €10 for my copy in Dublin, its about the same price point in the UK stores.
any idea what the actual retail price for this is?
Radiohead are 100% to blame for the over inflated prices. They knew the demand would be there and should have pressed more records. This whole situation is really unfair on genuine music fans. I know that sounds cheesy but it's true.I'm not interested in a financial investment, I just want to own Spectre on vinyl.
2,500 is not really a hefty number unless you're a band like Menswear. I don't think the prices will come down much. Will be happy to hear from you again when they do.
I got one reserved too. I am probably their favourite client.
Where do you live that your shop would reserve a copy? Must either be one of their favorite customers, or else you live somewhere without much of a Radiohead fanbase.Over here, no shops would take reservations, many didn't even receive copies, and some of those that did get copies put them out on the shelf a few days early without telling any of the fans who had been checking with them throughout the past couple weeks.
I'm a 100% music fan , and I got one I did my research and found out when it was out , rang my local record shop and reserved one !Not sure what the fuss is about .
false. 2500 is a hefty number and the prices on these will simmer down once the whole press hits the market. impatient buyers and exploitative sellers are to blame for these early prices.
Local, independent record stores, and the beautiful friendships that form there, are a better path towards the enlightenment these two tracks bring than inflated 'net-sharks ever could. Big ups to Ranch Records in Bend.
Let's hope nobody falls prey to the vultures and keeps away. Absolute profiteering. Weren't witches burned for that years ago....? Nobody buying = nobody profiting. Bring on the re-release announcement..... :)
I understand the excitement that a release from this band creates. But surely the criminal amount available for this record just causes mass disappointment for the many genuine fans globally who were unable to physically get to there local record shop. However I do get the feeling that this will get a full release in the fullness of time.
Fair point well made, but I hardly think this site was made for touts to profit from. It is a shame it's par for the course though yes. Just more than a bit soul destroying for those who just want the vinyl for listening and collecting pleasures though. But like I have already said. If nobody helps the vultures by paying the exorbitant prices, they will eventually fly away.... Probably onto pre-ordering tickets for the next sell out gig....!Excuse double reply.
Blame the band for only making 2500 of them. Sites like this are responsible for the profiteering.
I think I'll create a fake account and keep buying the record off scalpers and just refuse to send payment
Gosh, you are a real rebel. Look up "Supply and demand" in Google sometime
Then I shall create another account and keep doing it :)

Very good. You will get your account closed pretty quickly. It's down to supply and demand. An item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it and right now people are paying a lot for this single.
Fuck everyone who bought this just to flip this on here or eBay for ridiculous prices. Vultures.
getting my copy today from the lovely lovely people at the amazing crash records in leeds ....BIG UP LEEDS CREW XXX
vulture , simply vulture . I'm speechless. And i laugh.
oh lord this is £150 on ebay already FFS !
Scum of the earth. Yet, some people are paying it! The mind boggles.
Any idea on the release date in the US? Definitely want to pick this up.
Just bought one at Port of Sound in Costa Mesa
No idea. Anyone know anything about a release in Cali besides from Amoeba?
Looks like tomorrow. My local record store confirmed they got them.
How does anyone have this if it is not out till Monday?
No, it's released today - Friday 13th May in the UK and Ireland
You can reserve a copy if you call ahead to some record stores.
They work for a records store or are being hopeful.
